With the 2008 SRT Viper expected to pump out 600 ponies from its 8.4L V10, Z06 owners may have a serious challenge on their hands. With only 505hp to contend with from the hand-built 7.0L LS7, we knew we wouldn’t have to wait long for a tuner to up the output of the Z06.

2007_vortech_corvette_z06_02.jpgVortech Engineering is set to release its latest forced-induction kit for the Z06, with final testing of the V-2 SQ T-trim centrifugal supercharger currently underway. The new system will run ultra-quietly, so there’ll be no rough whine from the blower allowing owners to maintain the stock sound of the potent V8.

The kit, which starts at $6,695, comes with everything you need for installation, including the supercharger, air-to-air aluminum intercooler, compressor bypass valve, aluminum mounting brackets and hardware, high-flow fuel pump, oversize fuel injectors, and a custom Diablo Sports handheld programmer to reflash the factory ECU with optimized settings.

Final output is a very healthy 635hp and a 0 to 60mph time of 3.9 seconds, with the quarter mile passing in 11.5 seconds.
